Vernon H.C. Wright, B.S. '69

Vernon Wright believes in the positive benefits of higher education. A graduate of the Merrick School of Business, he built a successful professional career on the foundation he received at UB. In addition, he has consistently supported UB's efforts to provide top quality educational opportunities for students at all levels. "In today's economic climate, education is more important than ever. Today's young people need all the help they can get to pursue their dreams of higher education," says Mr. Wright. "UB provided me with a solid education, and I am happy to do what I can to ensure that today's students receive the same quality of education that I did."
Mr. Wright also gives back to UB in other ways. For the past 15 years, he has been a part of the University of Baltimore Foundation, most recently as it Chair, and the UB Board of Visitors. In 2004, when Mr. Wright retired from his position as CFO of MBNA Corporation and Vice Chairman of MBNA America Bank, he finally had the time to pursue his personal interests, which include providing volunteer leadership for his alma mater. And when he was asked to chair the Uniquely UB Capital Campaign, Mr. Wright didn't hesitate. He brings over 35 years of experience, as well as the professional and personal skills necessary to lead UB's most extensive capital campaign. "This is an exciting time for UB. Our enrollment is growing, we've returned to a four year undergraduate program and the energy our students bring to their studies is inspiring. It is wonderful to see UB as a dynamic and thriving University and I'm proud to support and represent UB."
