Scholarship Spotlight - Elisabeth Danner

  • danner300_369

University of Baltimore student, Elisabeth Danner, is proud to be paying her own way through school and grateful for the scholarship she's received through the University of Baltimore Foundation.  An undergraduate student in the Corporate Communications program, Danner says that her scholarship gives her "peace of mind" as it helps ensure that she can continue her education and maintain financial independence.  The scholarship she received for the 2009-2010 academic year, one of several funded through the Robert W. Schaefer Undergraduate Scholarship Endowment Fund, was established by UB alumnus and donor Robert W. Schaefer , B.S., '55, to help support students like Danner who are enrolled in undergraduate programs in the Yale Gordon College of Liberal Arts or the Merrick School of Business.  "Receiving this scholarship makes me feel like someone knows how important it is to help students finance their education.  Just knowing someone cares makes me want to go the extra mile and achieve my goals," says Danner.

Establishing more endowed funds for student scholarships is one of the main priorities of Uniquely UB: The Campaign for the University of Baltimore.  This fundraising campaign, with its goal of raising $40 million, will support student scholarships at all levels, help strengthen UB's programs and services, improve its facilities and make its urban campus a showpiece in the Baltimore community, according to campaign chair, Vernon Wright, B.S., '69.  "UB is one of Baltimore's best-kept secrets.  The student body consists of individuals who are committed to their educations - and they deserve the very best we have to offer.  Through Uniquely UB, we will be able to offer more scholarships, enrich our educational offerings and create a more visible campus."
