Programs and Centers of Excellence—$4 million
The Campaign will strengthen CLA programs that have already earned wide recognition and bolster the work of our highly regarded Centers.
Public Administration Program. This NASPAA-accredited program provides both master’s and doctoral degrees in public administration. The master’s program helps administrators meet the challenges of protecting our social and economic infrastructures. The doctoral program gives senior-level managers a thorough knowledge of the legal, ethical and political environments of public administration.
Publications Design Program. Offered through the School of Communications Design, this program merges conceptual thinking, professional writing and graphic design. Students develop communication and publication strategies, master electronic tools and adapt to emerging technologies as they translate ideas into print and other media.
Criminal Justice Program. The undergraduate program enables students to better understand crime, its prevention and the research and analysis involved in administering criminal justice. With an urban location ideal for exploring criminal justice issues, the graduate program attracts a lively mix of practicing professionals who interact with others through partnerships with the Baltimore City Police Department, state agencies and victim-advocacy programs like House of Ruth.
Simulation and Digital Entertainment Program. With more than 100 companies in the region involved in interactive development, students in our bachelor’s program head toward careers in the multibillion-dollar industry of video and computer games and simulation. The program also prepares students for graduate study in Interaction Design and Information Architecture.
Schaefer Center for Public Policy. This Center, which serves the state’s public and not-for-profit sectors, conducts program evaluations, performs policy analysis, engages in survey research and conducts management training programs. Our emphasis is on applying the knowledge and skills of the university community to real-world issues.
Center for Community Technology Services. The CCTS reduces technology costs for nonprofits, strengthening the ability of the Baltimore region’s nonprofit organizations to use information and communication technologies effectively and to successfully integrate new information technologies into their services and operations.
